Meet the Owner: Nicola Russell

Kia Ora, I'm Nicola, the owner of NumberWorks'nWords in Rolleston, Canterbury. My goal is to ensure that children feel confident in their abilities and enjoy learning. Originally from the UK I visited New Zealand twelve years ago and never left. Devoting my time to working with children led me to complete both my undergraduate in Psychology and Education along with a Master of Primary Teaching up in Auckland. For the past three years I have been fortunate enough to call Canterbury home. Over the years I have worked both in classrooms and with children on a one on one basis in private settings. I have seen the progress children can make with their learning when they are encouraged and have their skills nurtured through individualised programmes. I endeavour to help learners take pride in their work and believe in themselves, setting them up for success.
Meet the Manager: Rae Orange

Hello, I'm Rae, the Manager at the NumberWorks'nWords Rolleston centre. I’m very passionate about helping kids get the hang of Maths and English. I believe that everyone has the potential to learn, and I love making those subjects easier (and even fun!) for kids who might be struggling. Whether it's breaking down tricky math problems or helping with reading and writing, I am here to find what clicks for each individual student. What really drives me is seeing kids grow more confident in their skills and become excited about learning. I think every kid can succeed if they have the right support, and I love being a part of that process. When I'm not tutoring, I love helping out at the local Toy Library and learning about world History, and I try to bring that same sense of curiosity and fun into the centre.
